SISC #22~ I’m so Distressed
Sorry for the late post guys, but this week has been a little hectic. I started my student teaching assignment this week and the kids came yesterday. It has been so fun! I know most of their names and I even got to read a book I had picked out aloud to the class!
This week at Stamp Insanity, we have a combo challenge. Use the sketch provided, but distress it a bit!
Here is the sketch…
I have to admit that in the chaos that is this week, I didn’t realize their was a sketch and just used the distressing techniques on my card BUT when you look at my card, Beth and I must have telepathy, because my card follows the sketch pretty well!
I used Henry from the Sunscreen set. I tore part of the matting around him. I also tore out the sentiment, from the same set, and inked it up with a red ink pad. To add a little flair, I used some orange ribbon I had laying around. The background paper is Bo Bunny and the cardstock is DCWV.

All Your Fault
I got to play a little more with my new Artful Inkables sets. This one is called Fun & Friendly and I bought the set for this particular stamp. I knew it had to be the first one I inked up!
I just love it. It makes me think of Amy and I’s relationship. I used the Mojo Monday sketch from this week but flipped it on its side.
I took this photo outside because I just couldn’t get the right colors inside. Even this one isn’t perfect, but much better than the others.
Enjoy! Erica
You wind me up!
Here is card number two! This was the original card. I think the silver embossing turned out really cute. I like the blue from previous card, but those white flecks pissed me off a bit! I used the same Kaiser Craft paper and Making Memories orange embossing powder. I don’t remember the brand of the silver, but it whatever it is, it covers beautifully!
Here are the challenges this card was made for:
- 2S4y: Sketch
- Cards for Men: Off on an adventure
- Stamptacular Sunday Challenge: Out of this World
- Saturday Challenge #95: It’s a Man’s World

Blast Off!
I love this little guy! I love him so much that I made two cards with him. The other card will post very soon. I couldn’t decide what color to emboss him, so he got two treatments and two cards! For this one I embossed him with bluish embossing powder. I don’t remember the company but I think it was Making Memories. This color for some reason has white flecks in it, so the color variation you are seeing isn’t unembossed areas, it is white embossing. It is the strangest thing, but it works. I used some Kaiser Craft paper I have. Both of the patterns are from the same sheet. I finished the card off with an orange embossed sentiment from the same Reflections set. The orange is the same kind of embossing powder as the blue, minus white specks!
Here are the challenges this card was made for:
- IC Sketches #77: Sketch
- Flourishes: No embellishments

Primary flower bunch
I did another card today! I saw a challenge was using primary colors and I knew that would be a great palette for my Sunburst Dandies set from Artful Inkables. I combined a few challenges to create this…
Since I was using the Artful Inkables set, I wanted to play along with their new challenge, anything but a traditional card. You are probably wondering how this fits. Well…
Yep, I made an easel card! I love that I found these buttons that worked so well with the colors I was using. Here’s the problem though. So I got so caught up in my primary colors, that I forgot the Artful Inkables challenge was also to use PURPLE. I don’t see any purple. Well, I guess I will be making another card. At least this pushed me to make something different!
Here are the challenges that this card was made for:
- CPS- Card Sketches: Sketch
- Allsorts Challenge Blog: Primary Colors
- ABC Challenge: A is for August

Queen of Everything
Every since The Burtonesque Dolls gave the challenge of Vintage style, I immediately knew what image I would use. I have a TAC image of a queen. This was one of the first stamp sets I ever got. Then, at Oh, Alice!, they have challenge people to use white…all white, except for the main image. Put the 2 together, and I you have my version of the White Queen…
I know it was supposed to be all white, but I had to put a little homage to the Red Queen, but white overwhelms the one red rose. It is still very present though! I embossed the background white paper with a Cuttlebug folder. I don’t know which one because it is a friends, but I liked the flowers and swirls. I decided to flip it though, and have what is normally raised go in. I thought it worked better. I actually did two versions of the queen. The first I shaded with black. I liked it, but it was actually in the cutting that caused issues. With the one that I actually put on the card, I just outlined it in a gray Tombow. I think that made the white REALLY stand out, and since she is the White Queen, I wanted it to be stark white.
I finished the card off with a sentiment from the stamp set, and some organza white ribbon.
Here are the challenges that this card was made for:
- Card Patterns: Sketch 76
- The Burtonesque Dolls: Victoria Style
- Papertake Weekly Challenge: White and Bright
- Creative Card Crew Challenge: Let’s Get Cute and Girlie!
- Cuttlebug Challenge: Heartfelt Sentiment
- Wild Flower Patch: Emboss
- Raise the Bar: Pearly Whites
- Oh, Alice!: White Rabbit, White Gloves, White Wonderland
- Our Creative Corner: It’s Embossable
Enjoy! Erica
Cheers!
Today I made an early “Christmas” card, but it could really be used at anytime for drinks. I used the OWH sketch for this week and an old set I had from The Angel Company. All of the patterned paper is from DCWV. I did add a few Dew Drops for texture and I used the Deckled Rectangle Spellbinder instead of use a normal rectangle to add a little pop!
Here are the challenges this is made for…
- OWH Sketch: Sketch
- The Pink Elephant: Something Yummy
- My Time to Craft Challenge: Let’s Eat Cake OR Drink Up
Enjoy! Erica
Happily Ever After

I was going through my Google Reader and saw the Clean and Simple sketch for this week. I really liked it and thought it would be great for a simple wedding card. I used some S.E.I paper that has a subtle circle embossed. I thought it worked perfectly and added to the card instead of distract from the true message. I used the last of my Making Memories flowers but instead of using the diamond brad, I used a decorative Making Memory brad. I finished the card off with a G Studio sentiment, raised with pop dots.
Here are the challenges this card was made for:
- Clean & Simple: Sketch
- J.U.G.S: Wild Wedding
- EtsyInspired Challege: Becky Kazana
- Cute Card Thursday: Whatev!
- OWH: Midweek Throwdown- Patterned Paper
Hope you enjoy! Erica
SISC #21- Petals and Swirls
Another Thursday is here! As this posts, I am getting ready to head to the classroom to help prepare my student teaching classroom for 27 4th graders to make their presence next week! I very excited about this new adventure, and I am also very excited about the challenge over at Stamp Insanity this week, Petals and Swirls.
I have had this great patterned paper from Bo Bunny for about 2 months and only used it once! I wanted something fun and summery to make me think fun thoughts as my summer comes to an end. I used Morgan from the Beach Babes set. I just love this image. Isn’t Morgan adorable?! My swirls come in the form of stickers by ATD. I picked them up a while ago too and never busted them out until now. The petals are Primas and I just love the wonderful colors they come in!
I also am using this card for the Raise The Bar Challenge to get Sticky by using a sticker in the creation!
We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Back to School Apple
When I saw the cute freebie from Meljen’s Designs, I couldn’t wait to make a back to school card.
All the paper is from the Fall Stack and Cardstock Mat Stack by DCWV from a couple of years ago. I love this paper. It is so fun! The original design of the stamp has some swirls around the apple, but they weren’t suitable for cutting around, so I cropped them out. This card is perfect for The Challenge Blog’s theme of Back to School.
Enjoy! Erica
