Haunted Mansion

I decided to do a little creating this evening. I hadn’t made a Halloween card yet, and wanted to play with this Inkadinkado image I got as a gift from the Crafty Ho challenge. I embossed it in black. I used some DCWV paper I have had for a while. I finished the card with the lattice Martha Stewart punch and Making Memories black flowers.

You wind me up!

Here is card number two! This was the original card. I think the silver embossing turned out really cute. I like the blue from previous card, but those white flecks pissed me off a bit! I used the same Kaiser Craft paper and Making Memories orange embossing powder. I don’t remember the brand of the silver, but it whatever it is, it covers beautifully!

Blast Off!

I love this little guy! I love him so much that I made two cards with him. The other card will post very soon. I couldn’t decide what color to emboss him, so he got two treatments and two cards! For this one I embossed him with bluish embossing powder. I don’t remember the company but I think it was Making Memories. This color for some reason has white flecks in it, so the color variation you are seeing isn’t unembossed areas, it is white embossing. It is the strangest thing, but it works. I used some Kaiser Craft paper I have. Both of the patterns are from the same sheet. I finished the card off with an orange embossed sentiment from the same Reflections set. The orange is the same kind of embossing powder as the blue, minus white specks!

Queen of Everything

Every since The Burtonesque Dolls gave the challenge of Vintage style, I immediately knew what image I would use. I have a TAC image of a queen. This was one of the first stamp sets I ever got. Then, at Oh, Alice!, they have challenge people to use white…all white, except for the main image. Put the 2 together, and I you have my version of the White Queen…

I know it was supposed to be all white, but I had to put a little homage to the Red Queen, but white overwhelms the one red rose. It is still very present though! I embossed the background white paper with a Cuttlebug folder. I don’t know which one because it is a friends, but I liked the flowers and swirls. I decided to flip it though, and have what is normally raised go in. I thought it worked better. I actually did two versions of the queen. The first I shaded with black. I liked it, but it was actually in the cutting that caused issues. With the one that I actually put on the card, I just outlined it in a gray Tombow. I think that made the white REALLY stand out, and since she is the White Queen, I wanted it to be stark white.

I finished the card off with a sentiment from the stamp set, and some organza white ribbon.

Christmas Joy!

The other day I was sitting in Wade’s work chair and I had an inspiration. I tend to get good ideas when sitting in there. I wonder if I steal his chair, he would notice? Anyways, I came up with this Christmas card idea and decided to try it out today. If you haven’t noticed, I am trying to do large amounts of Christmas cards, so even if I am not sure how it is going to turn out, I planned on making several of them. I got all my supplies together, cut everything and then just hoped that it would be pretty and I didn’t just cut up paper for nothing.

They are all the same design, but several different papers and two different colors of embossing powder, so I am sharing all of the different ones.

I have an idea for this stamp in a completely different way…but that will have to wait until later!

Think Ink #25

Today is another Think Ink challenge at Artful Inkables. Today we are challenged to make our own background paper.

I used the Into the Moonlight feather stamp for the background. I used several different blues and purple inks to get the fading effect. I finished off the card with silver embossing powder for the sentiment from Fictionally Inspired, a tag from Spellbinders, and a Making Memories brad.

First Christmas card of the year

Again, I wanted to play with a bunch of challenges and this card came about, also fulfilling the need of using one of my first stamps I have been ignoring.

This angel image is the first Gift with Purchase I got from The Angel Company about 4 years ago! I have never made a card with it and only tried to stamp with it once but the ink wasn’t very good to use.

I pulled out the Christmas stack from DCWV a got last year for the background designer paper. I also really wanted to use the circle Nestabilities my friend Michelle is letting me borrow. All of this came together and I knew that the Cards & Things sketch would be perfect to showcase everything.

I finished off the card with some gold “thread” I twisted around some paper.

My version of Ewan!

This week over at The Burtonesque Dolls, the challenge is to create a card in honor of your favorite Buton male character. I have to admit. I haven’t seen a lot of Burton movies and I didn’t have the stamps to do a Beetlejuice card, but I wanted to do something different and fun. Did you know that Tim Burton directed “Big Fish,”? I really love that movie, so I wanted to do my version of  Ed Bloom.

Here is what I did…

I was really happy because I actually used my Prismas to blend colors and I think it looks wonderful. I used the same Making Memories I made in the previous card, but in a different way. I love the quote. I got this in a random set I won off eBay, so I have no idea who made it, but it is from Winston Churchill. I think it also gets to the heart of the movie.

Think Ink #24

I wanted to make sure to participate in this week’s Think Ink challenge at Artful Inkables since they were kind enough to pick me as the Featured Stamper for July. I have to make a confession. I only have two Artful Inkables sets…so far and they are two of the Twilight sets. I have been making a ton of Twilight cards, so I wanted to make a card using the stamps that wasn’t necessarily Twilight related. The challenge is to use stitching, faux or real, on your project.

I had never done stitching on a card, so I wanted to keep it simple. I just put two stitches at the side of the heart in a complimentary blue thread. I needed a smaller needle because the hole I punched was really small. I think it works though.

The paper is all DCWV. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the border and embossed the Artful Inkables sentiment from Fictionally Inspired. I finished off the card with a diamond rhinestone from Studio 18.

Clean & Simple Thank you

I wanted to make a card for this week’s Clean & Simple challenge. I decided to use some paper from Basic Grey’s Offbeat pack. I love this paper, but I didn’t want to cover it up with anything. This was the perfect way to showcase the beauty of the paper. I did add the ribbon and button that weren’t in the sketch, but I felt it added the perfect touch to it.

I thought about putting a small plaque with the sentiment on it since the paper was so dark, but I felt that it was more powerful if I embossed the sentiment in white. I love embossing in white…heck I love just embossing. I still love watching the powder turn into one solid line. I guess it is the small things in life!

Enjoy! Erica
