TTIC #48: Bond between Brothers

Jacquie is the hostess for this week’s Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge:

As New Moon movie release approaches we are seeing amazing pictures of the Wolfpack who become Jacob’s Brothers. In New Moon the wolf pack play an important part in Jacob’s life and the effect they have on the Quilute community. This also affects the Cullen family, they have a treaty with the Cullens and in time see that they all need to work together to rid Forks of the bad Vamps. This week we will be focusing on the Bond between brothers and how we apply that to our human lives. Women can lean on each other and we are strong all on our own but now and again we need that males presence as a brother, husband, best friend as a grounding force…as a safe place to be. We see that in Bella’s need for Jacob.
Craft Portion: Make something that reflects brotherhood… Be inspired by the wolf pack, Edward and Jasper/Emmitt, even the relationship between Bella and Jacob. Make a scrapbook page, a card for your brother or maybe a book for that special guy in your life. Celebrate brothers in any way you would like. (this would be a good chance to find those awesome pictures of the New Moon Wolfpack)
Comment Portion: Talk about the brotherhood in your life… Do you have an amazing brother that has been there for you thick and thin? Do you have the best guy friends that have your back when times get rough?

I knew I wanted to make a square card, something a little different for me. I found this awesome photo by doing a google search. You can find the image here. I couldn’t use brown as my base because I didn’t have the deep brown color I wanted, so I ended up using blue and could not be happier with how it turned out. The patterned paper is Offbeat from Basic Grey. What I love the most is that the top paper is not the same blue that is on the base of the card. I usually have issues with mixing my colors, but I was happy with the contrast. I am glad that I am starting to get out of comfort zone and branch out a bit. It is kind of fun.
I used the quote, “In union there is strength,” by Aesop. I thought that was a perfect quote for brotherhood.
I am really excited to see how they portray the wolf pack in the book. They are so close knit and tight, but with an edge. I really can’t wait to see the eatting scene at Emily’s house. I think that is the best scene to see the wolf pack’s true unity in human form.
And as always, our Design Team has fantastic projects to display for this week’s challenge – please go and check them out!

Bright Birthday

I love these little penguins. I have had the set for over a year and I still can’t stop using them!I wanted to make something with this Basic Grey Paper and the fun penguins were the perfect match. I also used Dew Drops! Suprise? LOL!

Sorry that my posts haven’t seemed more filling then just a card, but life has been CRAZY! School is in full gear and lesson plans, papers and tests are starting to pile up. Not to mention that it is starting to become wedding and baby season around here and I am constantly going to a shower or party of some sort.
Hopefully I can talk a little more later. Have a great day!

TTSVC5~ Sam Merlotte

Here is the info for this month’s Sookie challenge over at Twilight Tuesday:Welcome Back to the September edition of the Sookie/Southern Vampire Challenge! This month, we are going to ponder on the character of Sam Merlotte. Sam is such an interesting character – he is kind of like Sookie’s Jacob, in that he loves her unrequitedly, but purely. And for all the right reasons. He is her friend, her protector while Bill sleeps, her confidant – someone she trusts and adores. But, Sam, as we know, is also a rare, pure Shifter ~ he can be anything he chooses to be! (How awesome would THAT be?) Being Sam, the unassuming, gentle guy he is, his shift of choice is an equally gentle and unassuming Collie Sookie calls, Dean. It is hard to not root for Sam, even though we know Sookie just isn’t into him the way he would like. We love him, and want him to be happy. Do you agree? PS~ For this challenge, I’ll allow that we can draw off of book Sam or True Blood Sam. They are very similar, and we want to hear from as many people as want to offer opinions!
So… for this challenge, I offer two suggetions:
1) If you were a pure Shifter, as Sam is what would your shift of choice be and why. Create a project that captures your “inner shifter”. Tell us why!
OR… 2) Create a project that captures the essence and aura that IS Sam. Explain your thoughts and tell us your feelings about the character.

This is my Sam card!
I wanted it to be simple because I think Sam is a pretty simple guy. Yeah he has all this supernatural stuff going on, but he tries to lead a normal life. Sam is also very loyal, so I wrote that under the paw print.
I really love Sam. He is probably one of my favorite characters in the entire book series. I am in the middle of book 6 right now, so I still have a few books to go, but so far he is wonderful!
I also wanted to show that I got into part when making this card and wore my new plaid shirt, very Sam of me. His doesn’t have ruffles though!Card Supplies:
Stamp: Artful Inkables
Ink: Ranger Distresser, gel pen
Paper: Basic Grey
Accesories: paper studio

Simple sweet birthday

This was made for my friend Candace’s mom Vicci. I decided to play around with a little distressing. I think I might become an addict like Donna and Jen. Hopefully I get as good as those girls are! The die-cut frame was a pressie from Ali. The colors were the inspiration for the card. Two cards this week that Ali inspired. Maybe she is my muse :)

Happy Birthday Connor

I can’t believe my friend’s little boy Connor is 1 year old already. I thought I would make him a cute little card for the occassion. His family, dad’s side especially, are Kansas Jayhawk fans, so I used their color scheme of Crimson and Blue. I do have Jayhawk paper, but not a stamp, so I decided to use this cute monkey from The Angel Company. I know, I know, that the jersey says 2 and it is a first birthday, but that is how the stamp was made, not my decision. When I gave the card to Candace, the mom, I told her about it and she said that it was because Connor is 2 cute! I agree.

Card Supplies:
Stamps- The Angel Company (monkeys and Tag Tidbits)
Ink- Memories, Tombos, Bics
Accesories- Paper Studio
Paper- not sure

TTIC #47- Mary Alice Brandon

Julie came up with an awesome Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge. Check it out!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Today’s Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge is about the character that every Twilighter seems to love — Alice!
Our theme is specifically about Alice’s past, before she met the Cullen family and was known as Mary Alice Brandon. We don’t know too many details about Alice’s life before the events of the Twilight saga occur, but if you would like a refresher on her past, visit the Twilight Saga Wiki here and read!
The craft portion is to depict an aspect of Alice’s history. You can take your inspiration from what we know from the actual Stephenie Meyer text, or you can use your imagination to depict something that could have happened in Alice’s past.
The comment portion – talk a bit about Alice’s gift. Would you like to possess her ability to see the future? Do you think that that would be a blessing or a curse?

Here is what I came up with!

I loved this challenge and it just came together beautifully, if I do say so myself. I love the dancer stamp from The Angel Company had. The sentiment is also from TAC. It reminded me of Alice. The paper is from a Making Memories kit and the buttons are random.
If you didn’t know, Alice is my favorite character in the series! I love her humor, her sense of style and her love for her family.

I would not want Alice’s gift. I think only Alice can handle it with the grace that she demonstrates throughout the series. It could come in handy, but I think that it would be more pain then pleasure.

And as always, our Design Team has fantastic projects to display for this week’s challenge – please go and check them out!

Engagement party

I went to a really fun engagement party last weekend. It was for my friends Jake and Claire. They will be getting married in a year. The paper is the real inspiration for the card. This is Basic Grey paper. I wanted something that would go with gold because I knew that was what I was going to emboss the image with. The image is from Hampton Arts. It was in a lot that I bought and now I had a reason to use it. I wanted to focus on the beautiful paper, so I didn’t want any embellishments that would take the spotlight. I decided to use Dew Drops because I think they are nice and understated.

Card Supplies:
Paper: Basic Grey
Ink: Versamark
Stamps: Hampton Arts
Accesories: gold embossing powder, Dew Drops

Everyone needs an Edward

So I had stamped a bunch of these Edwards so that if i ever just wanted to color, I could. So, my old computer was being a slow pain in the butt the other day, so I decided to pick one of them up and just started coloring. I wanted a different male color paletter just for the heck of it and this seems like something Alice would choose. Plus I had purple and gray/black in my head from reading Ali’s TTIC post last week. I put the whole card together on Thursday night since I couldn’t play on my computer. It is just a fun card.
On the computer front, I have a new one!!!! It is so pretty. It is fast and has a great picture. I haven’t tried watching anything on it yet…oh maybe I should go watch the HD Trailer 3 for New Moon. I guess I know what I am going to do now! Have a great day.

My computer hates me!!!

So I have been having computer issues for a while. Actually, I thought they were more patience issues then anything. Well, last night I was on Facebook and the computer started freaking out. Now it says that I might have spyware, but I don’t want to touch anything because that might be the spyware. UGGGG!!!
So now I am using my parent’s computer to type this, but I have 3 papers due early next week and nothing to type them on. Well, I shouldn’t say nothing. I could continue to use my parent’s computer, but I like being in my room and that is not easily done with a desktop. The guy that I am seeing has a laptop that he is going to let me borrow while he tries to resurrect my Cecile (yes, I named my computer). I am afraid to use his computer because obviously I don’t have the best track record with technology. Did you know I have not bought a single computer besides my first one out of just wanting to upgrade? Each has suffered a painful and excrusiating death!
I have been wanting a new computer for a while and I think that this is the sign that it is a necessity! I think a trip to Best Buy is in my future. Even if I get a new computer, I still need to have my photos taken off the current computer. Wade says that he will take care of it, but I am still stressing over my photos. Granted the photos of my cards isn’t as heartbreaking as losing all of my England photos (yes, it happened), but still a pain! I think that I will be buying an external hard drive too!
Thanks for letting me rant. I have a beautiful card that I made last night I would love to share, but it will have to wait. I will try to get back as soon as possible. Wish me luck.

TTIC #46- Bella, Jacob and motorcycles

Dani came up with this week’s Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge! See what she wrote about it (I am a BIG fan of the picture she included too!!!): Welcome to the Twilight Tuesday Inspirational Challenge!
Have you ever worked with someone and an unexpected friendship developed? In New Moon by Stephenie Meyer we watch such a friendship bloom between Bella and Jacob as they rebuild a pair of old motorcycles. I love seeing them change from good acquaintances to having a deep, loving friendship.
I also love hearing about the motorcycles! There is just something them. While the Cullens had their fast cars, Bella and Jacob had their motorcycles!

Now for the challenge of the week!
The challenge portion: I am going to do something a little bit different today. You can choose between these 2 challenges:
1. Make a project involving motorcycles.
or
2. Make a project that you work on with a friend.

The comment portion: Again you can choose either of these 2 to comment on:
1. Tell us about any motorcycle experience you have!
or
2. Tell us about a friendship of yours that came about from working together.

Here is what I made for this challenge!
I didn’t have anything with motorcycles, so I made a card with the help of some friends, they just didn’t know it. First helper was Wade. When I told him what I was working on he told me he would give me some notebook paper to help. I remembered that I had some paper with notebook paper on it, so I looked at that pack. Margie had given me that pack, and while I didn’t end up using the notebook paper paper, I did use 3 other pieces of patterned paper from it. Thank you Margie (and Wade). The image was stamped for me by Jacquie! The clear squares are from Dani and Amy bought me the sentiment. Finally, my mom bought me the pink sparkly paper. So altogether this was a group effort. Thank you to all that helped!
I have never been on a motorcycle. I would love to take a ride on one, but have never had the opportunity yet. JD said he would take me for a ride on his Harley, so I will have to talk to him about that now that the idea is back in my head.
I have had several friendships stem from working together. The two that I can think of are Colby who was my co-teacher and Jaclyn, my replacement. They are both wonderful people that I would have never gotten to know if I hadn’t have been “forced” to.
And as always, our Design Team has fantastic projects to display for this week’s challenge – please go and check them out!
