Cat’s pajamas sketch

I hadn’t played along with the Cat’s Pajamas challenge for a long time and this week it was a sketch challenge, so I played a long. I actually liked it so much that I made two cards. This was the card I actually used Cat’s Pajama’s stamps. I only have two sets, the two birthday sets. I love them, and definitely need to buy more.
The second card I made only used 1 stamp. I found this paper and thought it would be perfect for my boss and her husband on buying their first house.

Recipes:
Card 1: Stamps: Cat’s Pajamas
Ink: Memories, Bic

Paper: DCWV, My Mind’s Eye

Card 2:

Stamps: Paper Studio Ink: Walnut Stampabilities Paper:October Afternoon Weathervane

I am a slacker, but a very tired one at that!

I am so sorry I haven’t posted for a while, but I just haven’t had the time or the energy. I taught my first lesson yesterday, so I have been prepping for that. Our teacher loved it and thought my partner and I did a wonderful job. She said we have “presence.” Not too shabby. I am trying to work on a card, but it just isn’t happening for me.
I am going to be leaving in a few to hang out with a friend. We both just want to relax tonight, so I bought the chocolate and she is going to get the popcorn and we are going to watch Twilight tonight. It is going to be a great, relaxing time.
Supposedly we are going to get hit will lots and lots of snow tonight, so if I am stranded at home tomorrow hopefully my creative juices will begin to flow. I hope!

I’ve got the golden ticket!

Not really, but I am finally playing along with Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge. This week…Willy Wonka/Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I have not seen all of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I have seen Willy Wonka a lot. I thought the remake looked creepy. I also love Raul Dahl, the author of original story, The BFG (my personal favorite), and Matilda, just to name a few. The one request of this challenge was to use bright colors. This is what happened.
This card was strategically planned in a way. The purple paper was used because one of my favorite lines is “Violet, your turning violet, Violet!” The circles reminded me of the bubble scene where Charlie and Uncle Joe float to the top. I put the sentiment on yellow paper in reference to the golden ticket.
I used my Martha Stewart circle maker to create the dots. Amy did a similar sketch many moons ago. I didn’t look it up, but the final product reminded me of her sketch. I am not sure who makes the pp, it is pretty old. The stamp is a GWP from The Angel Company. I don’t know why I chose that sentiment, but I thought the card had so many options for occassions. Hope you enjoy! ~ Erica

Bella bride

Another Thank You card for my co-worker to give out.
I CASd this card from love5523 on SCS. I just loved how she made the card and I thought it would be perfect for my bellas. I would tell you what Bella I used but it has ran away right now. The flower and jeweled brad is Making Memories and so is the ribbon. The inside of the card I had to put white paper in so that she could write and then punched the side with my Martha Stewart floral punch. Hope you enjoy! ~Erica

My Twilight obsession meets my card obsession

Have I told you that I love Twilight?! I am obsessed. When I had my surgery a couple of months ago, I had to stay in bed for a while and so my co-workers told me that I should read the Twilight saga and I did. I can’t wait until Friday because the DVD comes out on at 12:01am on Saturday. Well, I was looking on Splitcoast during VSN and decided to make a Twilight card. I then searched Twilight to see what cards and projects had been made about Twilight, and there were a ton. That is when I stumbled across Twilight Tuesday, a wonderful website devoted to everything Twilight and creates a challenge on Tuesday involving chatting and crafting.

This weeks Twilight Tuesday challenge was about birthdays. If you haven’t read the books, Bella hates birthdays. For her 18th birthday, Alice, my fav, throws her a birthday party in pink and white. I stayed with the pink idea, but added black and teal. I did use a penguin as another Twilight reference, “Penguins, lovely.” I thought it was fitting.
The question part of the challenge was all about birthdays and birthday parties. I have never had a surprise party, but I have had great birthdays. I had a couple parties, but my favorite birthdays have been the ones where I hang out with just my parents or a couple of friends. Last year two girlfriends and one of their boyfriends took me to my favorite resturant and then we ate ice cream. We finished off the night by sharing a bottle of wine. A few years ago my family took me out to Kansas City and we ended up chasing cows around the city. (It was the Cow Parade) This year I am celebrating my birthday at a friends wedding/open-bar. I do think I am getting No Doubt tickets, so I am very excited about that.
I also combined the Twilight Challenge with Taylored Expressions sketch from this week.
The paper is Basic Grey Urban Prairie. The stamp is The Cat’s Pajamas. The ink is Memories and the markers are Bic. Hope you enjoy!~ Erica

Amy’s Friday Sketch

First I need to apologize for abandoning this for a while. School is kicking my butt. I have a teaching practicum this semester and just got into a classroom, so my partner teacher and I are planning our unit right now. A little stressful, but so fun. Also, I have been busy at work due to basketball post season. It is finally slowing down and I am taking a day off tomorrow. YEAH! I am going to go to a St. Patty’s Day Parade with my friends and their kids. I am also buying Catherine Hardwicke’s new book about Twilight. I know, I am a freak about Twilight. And then Friday night i will be with a bunch of teenagers to get my reserved copy of the DVD and a free watch!

So I finally made a card. Last night I sat down and made a couple of cards for a friend to give as thank you’s. We have a Bridal Fair at work and she is giving some of my cards to her clients. I am very happy about that.

I made this card for a grocery store that was showcasing floral and cakes. I thought this was a perfect combo of that. The sketch is from Amy’s Friday Sketch. I am happy that I mixed patterns and paper. I tend not to, but I thought this worked well. I hope my co-worker finds it up to caliber to give to her client. Hope you enjoy~ Erica

2 minute card

I got this idea at my lss when I saw that they added stickles to dp to create a new look and a little bit of bling. The dp is Autumn Leaves and the other paper is My Mind’s Eye. I used a punch to create the sentiment “holder”. The sentiment is from TAC and the ink is Child Safe stamp pad. I added yellow Stickles to add pizzazz to the paper. Honestly it only took 2 minutes to make and I really love how it turned out. Hope you enjoy! ~ Erica

Altered journal

This is the first time I have decorated a composite book. I need to make a present for my friend Cimmy’s birthday. Here is the results.I really love how it turned out. I used Zip Dry glue for the first time. I think I got high off the fumes, but that didn’t mess up my work too much :) . I also made a pen to match.

Some close ups…

I used a TAC stamp to stamp Be Authenic in Brilliance Moonlight White and then stamped a leaf on top with Versamark and then embossed with clear embossing powder. I cut a small scallop and used a chip board C (for Cimmy) to truly personalize it. I then made little pockets on the inside with the other side of the dp. Sorry, I don’t know what kind of paper it is but I got it at my LSS. I love how it turned out and she was really happy with it. Hope you enjoy!~ Erica
